House of God

Project Statement

House of God, is the name given to this photography project.

In Arabic the place where Muslims pray is called Masjid, which is Another word for prostration (Sujud).

Since that is a key part of prayer, and where the faithful is nearest to his creator.

There are many other steps to complete a prayer, it starts with washing and performing the prayer according to the way it’s been bought down over many centuries.

The Mosque is also the place where the people read the holy Quran, meet other faithful to socialize. It’s has an important place in the muslim daily life.

The Concept

To photograph the life in the Masjed. Where the faithful gather to pray.

The Reason why I embarked on this project

Throughout human history, worship played a key roll in their life.

For the faithful a place to be with the creator the Devine is important.

That is the main subject in most of the images.

Personal Relations

People attachment to the divine have always fascinated me.

How it brings together every walk of life in one place, to be close together, healing and repairing many of the human stresses and hardships.

An Explanation for the Audience

Hope, is what makes us survive in this world.

Hoping that there is a just force that will insure justice on earth, that heals and hears when we hurt. when we raise our hands in prayer we will not be turned down nor return empty handed.

The path to follow

The plan was to photograph two locations every day, but the war had a different plan for me.

Focusing on the places I have prayed at mostly, and where I feel more at ease and at place.

Earlier I didn’t want to include images from my archives, but that might difficult at the current circumstances.
